Join Joni for the preparation she does before taking a yoga class. She will give minimal instructions and corrections while practicing herself. This informal session is very different from a regular yoga class in which she instructs and demonstrates poses, and then carefully watches you so she can offer precise adjustments and corrections for more efficiency and integrity. (She does NOT do her own practice when teaching.)
This short session could be your stand-alone practice for the day, in addition to or instead of your not-yet established regular practice or class.
Good for accountability, getting to know Joni, her style, her eye for correction, getting a recommendation from her for which course level (courses coming soon!) to sign up for, etc. These sessions will be recorded and available in the members' library.
Donations are welcome, but not expected!
If you would like to work with Joni 1-on-1 for more details and/or specific therapeutics, this session could be for you, as a stand-alone session, or in addition to a course you are taking. Joni will provide screen shots or a recording so you may remember the lesson and not have to take notes. For an additional $50, an individualized practice sheet for your own use.
Take a yoga class with Joni to get to know her and experience her style of teaching. All levels welcome. Ask her to help determine which is the best series or course to sign up for. Most students sign up for a course or series so you can save on the single class rate.
Learn some simple self-massage techniques to care for yourself. Participate live with the group for support, accountability, and ability to ask questions, or use the replays later at your convenience, for much less cost than getting a massage!

About Joni: Joni was massage therapist for the Joffrey Ballet and to the stars, trained other massage therapists and teaches massage workshops. She loves to pass on self-care techniques to empower you to nurture yourself and be more self-sufficient, at any budget.
In addition, there are many advanced poses in yoga that have a self-massage component. And some students may be used to receiving deeper techniques. Email me if you are interested in being on a wait list for a more advanced self-massage course.

Weekly live, interactive online yoga class through Samamkaya Back Care Center, NYC. For all types of back issue, pain and postural problems including scoliosis. Lengthen your spine and move out of the habitual behaviors that cause back pain. Joni shares effective approaches that got her out of extreme lower back pain years ago and keep her out of pain today. All levels welcome including those new to yoga and beginners.

If it's your first class with Joni, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to briefly explain your current issues/situation and to set up your camera and props.
Begin your yoga journey, or return to yoga safely and respectfully, in progressive steps with a realistic base line. If you are very stiff, out of shape, and maybe even intimidated by the thought of many things you can't do in yoga, this course might be for you. If you are ready to get un-stuck, can follow instructions, and value integrity, precision and correctness, Joni can help! This is not just about movement, rather, it is a slower approach to the whole 8-limbed system of yoga.
This course will be held live online twice a week for five weeks, 10 classes total, with access to the recordings for practice on your own. Joni will be available online 15 min before each class begins, and as needed after class, to answer questions and help you find individual solutions for your unique issues. This course may be repeated as needed, or you may choose to move on to a different course at the conclusion.
This course is for you if you have not done yoga before, not in a long time, or have never studied Iyengar Yoga. This class would be for you if you are athletic, have no injuries, and can follow instructions. The pace is at times detailed and methodical, other times with brisk movement.
This course is for you if you have limitations, injuries, are in recovery from surgery, cancer, or just need a very gently paced class with less standing, more sitting in a chair and lying down. The supine poses are very relaxing and are held longer with great benefit to all the circulatory, respiratory, nervous systems and more.
In person, no registration. Joni is filling in for regular yoga teacher Patricia Videgain.
This class is easy going, meant for seniors and those with limitations.
Learn the foundations of yoga in a progressive series that builds within each class and from one class to another. If you are serious about learning yoga safely, with support and expert guidance.
Classes are 90 minutes, held twice a week, and will be recorded. You will have access to the recordings for the duration of the series, so you may catch up with a class you miss, or repeat the material to amplify your learning.
Joni will be available 15 minutes prior to start time, and after class ends, as needed, to answer questions. She will give recommendations for follow up courses before the end of the series.
